Welcome Qualia Labs is an Atlanta-based startup company focused on high quality research in the area of machine intelligence. Currently in a research phase, Qualia’s Alpharetta office provides a dynamic and interesting environment where concepts from the state-of-the-art in AI are explored and advanced.
Why the name Qualia? The term Qualia refers to the nature of our sensory experiences. What makes the color red appear red? What makes something hot cause pain? These simple questions are at the heart of our goal to understand the human brain. Intelligence is our response to the Qualia of all our senses; therefore Qualia is a fundamental step toward progress in Artificial Intelligence. More concretely, Qualia is the way in which the real world around us is represented inside an intelligent being. As such, Qualia is a powerful means of compressing phyisical and emotional information into a relatively small brain. Yet this compressed view of reality is able to be processed in order to form conclusions, predictions and other activities of life. About Qualia Labs We believe that the coming years will see significant advances in technology, far exceeding the already sharp rate of progress. These advances will be significant enough to mark the beginning of a technological revolution founded on computers that are far more useful than those known today. The fundamental principle of this transformation is that what we know as intelligence is actually a complex but finite process of pattern recognition and prediction. If that is the case, then this process can be re-created in automated systems and used to reduce waste, improve design and eliminate many of the errors caused by the rigidity of existing systems. The initial goal of Qualia Labs is to produce experts at the vanguard of machine intelligence. With these assets, we will be positioned to commercialize upon applications of machine intelligence at the right time by creating products that are superior to many of today’s market leaders.
