Qualia Labs is an Atlanta-based start up company focused on high quality research in the area of artificial general intelligence, or AGI. Working with state of the art techniques and algorithms, Qualia aims to bring about the promising advances that are possible through AGI.
What does Qualia Labs do?
Qualia labs investigates computational intelligence from a practical, objective view. Unrestricted to any specific machine learning discipline, we attempt to systematically evaluate the most promising permutations and parameterizations of many different ideas in search of emergent intelligence or intelligence-precursor phenomena. We are able to explore interesting candidate juxtapositions of information processing networks through an infrastructure of parallel computation known as QMulus. The term Qualia refers to the nature of our sensory experiences. What makes the color red appear red? What makes something hot cause pain? These simple questions are at the heart of our goal to understand the human brain. Intelligence is our response to the Qualia of all our senses; therefore Qualia is a fundamental step toward progress in Artificial Intelligence.
More concretely, Qualia is the way in which the real world around us is represented inside our intelligent brains. As such, Qualia is a powerful means of compressing physical and emotional information into a relatively small space. Yet this compressed view of reality is still able to form conclusions, make predictions and operate in the framework of the infinitely complex circumstances of life.
